In the sculpture unit, seventh graders study all different types of masks and the work of Pop Artist George Segal. Students work in groups of 2 or 3 and plaster each other's faces. Then, students finish their masterpieces by painting and spraying them with polyurethane.
Students may elect to add "extras" to their masks. Their masterpiece must reflect their personality, hobby or interests. In other words, their mask must be a reflection of themselves.
