Behavior Plan

 

Dear Parents,

I have developed a classroom discipline plan which gives every student guidance in making good decisions about his/her behavior and thus an opportunity to learn in a positive, nurturing classroom environment. Your child deserves the most positive, educational climate possible for his/her educational growth. The plan below outlines my classroom rules, positive rewards, and the consequences for inappropriate behavior.

RULES:
1. Listen carefully.
2. Follow directions.
3. Work quietly.
4. Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions.
5. Respect school and personal property.
6. Work and play safely.

To encourage students to follow our rules, I will reward appropriate behavior with verbal and written praise, positive notes, calls home, and classroom tickets. These tickets can be used for a variety of rewards and free time activities. Friday reward parties will be a whole class celebration in honor of a successful week for those students collecting the correct amount of tickets.

However, if a student chooses to break a rule, the following steps will be taken. (This is only if it all happens on one day. All warning cards are returned at the end of a day and we start fresh the next day).

FIRST time a student breaks a rule: A RED WARNING CARD is given to the student to remind him/her of the rule.
SECOND time: 5 minutes off of recess, NO TICKET EARNED.
THIRD time: 10 minutes off of recess, NO TICKET EARNED.
FOURTH time: CALL OR NOTE HOME, NO TICKET EARNED.
FIFTH time: The student will TALK WITH THE PRINCIPAL and there will be a conference with the parents, NO TICKET EARNED.
SEVERE DISRUPTION OR DISTURBANCE: In the classroom or on the playground will mean TIME SPENT IN THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE.
